MERCURY PRESENTS HOOTENANNY LP
Mercury Records # MGD-17
One of the more far-out LPs released from Mercury Records, which ordinarily had a reputation for sticking to more conservative recordings. HOOTENANNY features Americana folk songs, including jailbreak & prison music, chain gang, mountain folk, etc. An announcer is heard before each song telling a bit about the origin of the song and the artist(s) who perform it. The songs are complete and uncut. The back cover has a PROMOTIONAL COPY NOT FOR SALE stamp and the record is an original Mono pressing on the black Mercury label.
Examples of songs on this album are JIMBO by Inman and Ira- FAIR AND TENDER LADIES by Anita Carter- IN THE EVENING by Josh White plus six more.
The cover and record are both in exceptional condition for their age. The cover has very little wear on the front or back, no seam or spine splitting, no tears, and no writing. There is a small spot of tag residue, but it is clear and hard to notice unless you look closely. The record is clean and plays well with just an occasional light tick. Even under a lamp the vinyl shows only a small amount of very light surface marking and scuffing- there is nothing even close to being able to be felt on the grooves and this looks like it has had little play.
